Perspective: A Living Resonance

My husband and I found ourselves in Newport, Oregon yesterday,
a cozy, beachside town on the coast.

I stumbled upon an open-mic night while meeting up with a friend

at a cafe and put us down.

We hadn't played at one since we hosted our own for our wedding weekend five years ago.

Something happened last night while singing the words we know
to the tunes we feel--
all I can say was that I felt perspective
in my arms and muscles;
in my heart and in my being.

Something about then and now and everything in between:
a newness and an understanding
--a living resonance--
and a different kind than sight or insight can give.
